Eat Yourself Happy [Part 2]
I don’t know about you but the summer-time makes me feel more energetic and more joyful…..
Until I get the post holiday blues.
Yup the long awaited holiday was amazing but on landing back on home turf the emails come flooding in and suddenly there it is ……. back to normality with a thud. Such feelings describe me this year if I’m honest, having had a great family and friends break in Valencia ( despite our hotel having 6 sun-loungers for 100s of people, yes you heard right haha, oh and not forgetting no balcony which resulted in us all huddled in a room with no escape) emmmmm I don’t think we will be revisiting. But fun was still had and memories made.
I do believe good food can help ease moodiness as when we are hungry and lacking energy we get frustrated and possibly HANGRY. Yup what a great word.
Let’s talk about fat not the bad boy, but the good boy such as Omega 3 and other essential fatty acids – these have been found to help many mood disorders.
Add the following foods into your diet:
- Salmon
- Mackerel
- Chia seeds
- Flaxseeds
- Egg yolks
- Avocado
- Coconut oil
Dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain are altered by Omega 3s through neurotransmitter pathways. Also add nuts and seeds to your daily diet.
If like me and just back from holiday, ease yourself in gently and remind yourself that you have a great life exactly where you are (although the sun and heat are perhaps missing) but you have all that is important right by your side. Home isn’t just where the heart is it also has your heart.
Now off I go to tackle the heap of holiday ironing that’s accumulated.
